Traditional & Sparkling High Tea
Traditional and Sparkling High Tea

When it comes to High Tea & Afternoon Tea, Plymouth is an area much like the further South of England that undoubtedly understands the entire affair.

What is High Tea?
First introduced by Anna the seventh Duchess of Bedford in 1840, taking time out to relieve the hunger pangs between lunch and dinner was originally reserved for the upper classes. Rising in popularity with the introduction of tea rooms and hotels serving this restorative meal, High Tea differentiates itself from Afternoon Tea in that instead of being served on low tables in the parlour it was adapted to fit in with workers who would dine at the table seated on high back chairs.
Our High Tea at Langdon…
If you’re looking for High Tea, Plymouth won’t disappoint. A time-honoured tradition that blends the best of the meal’s history, at Langdon Court we treat it with the reverence it deserves. For the traditionalists, we offer a selection of freshly baked delights, speciality teas and classic finger sandwiches; for those looking to truly indulge, we recommend you sip upon a glass of Prosecco alongside your clotted cream scone. In the winter months, our welcoming dining room will provide the backdrop for your afternoon respite. During the warmer months, you’ll be treated to a view of our stunning Jacobean gardens when you take a prime seat on the terrace.
